Dar-us-Sakina was founded by two special needs mothers who recognized the dire lack of support for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers within the Muslim community of Houston. Grounded on Islamic principles of inclusion, the organization has spent the last ten years defying stigmas and bringing the special needs population out of the darkness and into the limelight. By sharing our stories and advocating for the needs of individuals with disabilities, we are on the path to building a more inclusive Houston Muslim community.
